ということで、、
今日はそもそも僕がビートルズトリビュートバンドを結成し、Robbin’s Nestで定期イベントを始めた理由を少し。
長いですが、お時間がある時にでも読んでもらえたら嬉しいです
。
遡ること十数年、初めて訪れたアイルランドで街から街へ、PUBからPUBへとホッピングする毎日。少しサイズの大きい街では特に週末、フラッと立ち寄ったPUBでは必ずと言っていいほど生の音楽が。
もちろんアイリッシュトラッド(伝統音楽)の場合も多いのですが、それ以外はほとんどがビートルズやボブディラン、トムウェイツやスティング、要は皆が知ってる音楽が演奏されていたのです。
日本と少し違うのはミュージックチャージが無く、お酒を楽しむ一般客が演奏を聴きながら場を盛り上げていること。
要は音楽目当てのお客さんよりも、お酒、PUB目当て、そしてそこに「音楽があった」といった雰囲気。
様々な事情から地元ではまだ難しいという事でミュージックチャージはあるにせよ、同じようなことがしてみたい、というのがそもそものキッカケ。
例えばビートルズの楽曲は(ストーンズでもボウイでも、クイーンでもニールヤングでも)人類が共有するかけがえのない財産。
たまたま居合わせた人たちで、その財産を同時に共有する。そんな光景に26歳の成田青年は心をすっかり奪われてしまったのです。(数パイントのギネスがそんな気分に拍車をかけたことは否めませんが)
いつか必ず。。
お店の開業などまだ夢のまた夢の時代でしたが、夢見ることを辞めさえしなければ、手の届くこともあるんだと、改めて痛感する次第。
導かれるように今のメンバーと出会い、大好きな楽曲、人類の財産を大切に演奏させてもらっています。
「コピーバンドでしょ？」
斜めに見られることも無くはありませんが、誰にも負けない情熱でメンバー一同音楽と向き合っています。
少し長く、大袈裟にはなりましたが初心と何一つ変わらず、なるべく真摯な姿勢で毎回のイベントを楽しんでいます。
3ヶ月に1度。
イギリスやアイルランドからは遠く遠く離れたこの小さな街弘前で、是非僕らと人類の財産を分かち合いませんか？

Today, I’d like to take a moment to explain what led me to form the Beatles Tribute Band and hold regular events at Robbin’s Nest in the first place.
When I first traveled to Ireland ten or so years ago, I spent my days traveling from town to town and hopping from pub to pub. Especially in bigger towns, it’s fair to say that just about any pub I visited would always have live music being performed. Of course, the bands would often play Irish traditional music, but beyond that, the bands would usually play music by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, or Sting—in other words, music that everyone knew.
What is slightly different from how things are done in Japan is that in Ireland, there is usually no cover charge to watch musicians play in a pub. Regular customers can listen to the band while they enjoy their beers, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. In other words, the customers were not there just to watch live music. Rather, they were there to enjoy drinks at the pub, where a band just happened to be playing.
This is what I originally set out to try to recreate—even if, for various reasons, it’s still necessary to have a cover charge for live music events in Hirosaki.
The music of the Beatles (like that of the Stones, Bowie, Queen, or Neil Young…) is a unique and irreplaceable treasure shared by all people. People who just so happen to be together somewhere are able to share that treasure at the same time. To 26-year-old me, this was like a revelation, and I became totally enamored with the idea when I watched those shows. (I can’t deny that several pints of Guinness may have contributed to my feeling as well.)
Some day…
Even though at that time, the idea of opening my own pub was still a distant dream, I keenly realized that as long as I didn’t stop dreaming, my goals would one day be reachable.
As if guided by the hand of an unseen force, the members of our band have come together and are performing the music that we love—the treasure that all people share.
“But isn’t it just a cover band?”
I might have some bias, but each member of the band is united in playing music with an unparalleled passion.
This post may have gotten a bit long, but I wanted to share the fact that I enjoy playing each show with sincerity and passion that hasn’t changed one bit from my original intention.
